Hello,
I'm Corrine.

Born and raised in New York City, my family and I moved to Malta when I was ten years old. Malta is an EU country located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. I am from the island of Gozo and speak a specific dialect spoken amongst a few thousand people on the island.
The current major project I'm working on is my memoir which focuses on my American-Gozitan identities, accepting that I am a hybrid, yet then deciding to move beyond the two countries of my origins to a life of world travel. I plan to see the whole world and so, travel does feature often in my writing projects.

I started writing creative nonfiction while doing my Masters degree at the University of Chicago and I am forever grateful to the professors who taught me craft. I am particularly interested in structure and narrative flow, rather than thematic niches. I believe that a reader is interested in what the story is about, but a writer is interested in how the story is being told. That's the type of writer I am.

I am the co-editor of Mgħawġin
There are very few opportunities on an island like Gozo that is made up of 60,000 people. Publishing opportunities barely exist. Ħaley Xuereb and I decided to co-found Mgħawġin to create a space for Gozitans to have their writing featured in a publication. The literary journal aims to include both Maltese and English, bridging the gap between the two languages, while also encouraging people to write in the Gozitan dialects.
